The day has come. Watches in the Wild: The Road Through America is finally here. After a theatrical world premiere, we are so proud to bring this next chapter to you here on Hodinkee. Where past seasons have seen us travel to far-flung locales, this season reminded all of us that there are stories to be told right under our noses. So we set out on a cross-country adventure to track the rise and fall of the American watchmaking industry. Along the way, we discovered (and re-discovered) a resurgence in the fabric of the United states horological consciousness.

On The Road Through America, you'll see me, James Stacey, and Cole Pennington travel from coast to coast, unraveling the past, present, as well as future of Us watchmaking.
Episode One, which we are happy to debut today, finds us in New England and focuses on the early days of horology via brands like Waltham through the lens of the Industrial Revolution. You'll see just how much the Usa manufacturing sensibility influenced the future of watchmaking not just in the United States, but the motherland itself: Switzerland.
We hit the road to peel back the first layers from the long and also complicated story of American watchmaking. Collectability's John Reardon takes us on a tour through this hometown of Bristol, Connecticut, to explore the grounds in the old Waltham and Howard clock factories. You'll see people hit the streets of Revolutionary Boston and visit a local shop run by a man known simply as The Watch Guy.
From clocks as old as the country by itself to the pocket watches that would go on to influence the actual wristwatches we know and love today, this particular American-focused adventure begins within the Northeast. And it's just the beginning.
